The good news is that the ipad UK app store is up and running waiting for you on the big day – May 28th

From one ipad fan to another…it’s not long until 28th now, just make sure you don’t take your eye of your new toy when it does arrive. Iphones are being stolen all the time in the UK which are not insured…If you have an iphone which is uninsured I would check out the high street retailers and then Google ‘ mobile phone insurance direct ‘ to compare..

Thursday, May 20th, 2010 My phone’s been stolen. What can I do now?

If your mobile phone has been stolen it can be both a distressing time and also extremely inconvenient, however it may well be recovered and it can be replaced through your insurance.

In a bid to combat mobile phone crime, the mobile phone industry in the UK is working together with the police making sure stolen mobile phones are unusable and worthless.

If your phone is lost or stolen, report it to your network straight away. You do not want to pay for any calls which are made whilst they have your phone.

Your network will immediately deactivate your SIM card to prevent unauthorised calls being made. Wow…Good news.

Your network will also identify a recent phone call made by you on your phone to determine the unique IMEI number of the mobile phone. It is at this point you will be advised that a new sim will be in the post to you.

At this point you may refer to the insurance you pay monthly for with the network provider, they will place you on hold and transfer you internally to the Mobile phone Insurance department. If however you are insured by another company, it is just as simple call the claims line answer the questions and with a bit of lady luck your new handset will be sent out within 48 hours of your call….

Thursday, May 20th, 2010 How many Mobile Phones are lost a year?

Over 1.5 million….Now that’s scary.
If you have ever been without a phone you know how important it is to stay connected. Business or pleasure we are using our mobile phones more and more.
Don’t add to this year’s figures if you can help it. Keep an eye on your phone at all times…
Smartphones are available on the market are now making the cost of replacing your mobile phone even more expensive than you may think. The main network providers reduce the cost to gain customers. For example a new iphone could cost anywhere between £270 and £350.
If you are travelling this year on holiday, in the UK or abroad make sure your mobile phone is covered, not just for the handset – for calls as well.

You can insure your mobile phone from as little as £2.25 per month after 25% discount…

Thursday, May 20th, 2010 What is my mobile phone worth?

More than you think…Your mobile phone has a resale value on the open market of anything between, £10 and in some cases over £500.
Thieves are not interested in your photos or amazing contact list, simply selling your phone on to the next person to make a quick few pounds.

Mobile phones can be sold within minutes of being stolen, in some cases phones are stolen to order.

The iphone would be a good example. Unless you are willing to splash out £200 – £300 pounds to your provider you have to wait for your next upgrade before you can obtain the latest generation iphone. The less honest member of the public seems to think it is acceptable to take our property. Our phones are targeted by many in bars and restaurants, some reports of even phones being taken in the work place and are sold on to colleagues in the same office.

Make sure your mobile phone is insured, if you are unlucky enough to have your phone stolen and you are not insured, you are looking at a replacement cost and calls running into hundreds of pounds. Also a contract phone is heavily subsidised and if it were to be damaged beyond repair or stolen you would still have to continue paying the Networks contract.

Make sure you start your insurance as soon as possible.

Thursday, May 20th, 2010 Looking for Mobile Phone Insurance

Whether you have a pay as you go or contract mobile phone, the sudden loss or damage would at best be an inconvenience and could cost you hundreds finding a replacement. This is where a good mobile phone insurance policy can save you time, money and hassle. But before you buy cover, make sure you check the small print first.

Firms who sell insurance must be regulated, make sure you ask before doing business with the company if they FSA regulated. The cost of buying insurance for your mobile phone depends on many aspects, including the type of phone, who insures you and finally if you are covered for the handset and the calls which could be made once the phone is lost or stolen.

To give you an idea, the cost will be between £2 and £12 a month depending on the provider. The networks seem to be amongst the most expensive according to an online report. Where possible you should buy insurance for your mobile phone direct from the insurance company who provide the service to the industry.

Happy searching, Keep your mobile Safe
