What iPhone insurance can cover

iPhone insurance can help with the cost of repair or replacement if something goes wrong, such as accidental damage or breakdown. Cover levels vary, and theft and loss are typically only included on the highest level. Your Schedule of Insurance confirms exactly what you’ve selected. Terms, exclusions and excess apply.

Cover levels at a glance

  • Essential: accidental damage and breakdown cover, subject to terms and excess.
  • Plus: higher cover limits and additional benefits than Essential, subject to terms and excess.
  • Premium: includes theft and loss as well as damage and breakdown, subject to terms, exclusions and excess.

What can be covered (depending on level)

Accidental damage (including cracked screens and liquid damage), mechanical breakdown (as defined in the policy), theft, and loss (Premium).

Key things to know before you buy

  • Your iPhone must be under 36 months old at the start of the policy and in good working condition.
  • You’ll need valid proof of purchase (the policy defines what counts).
  • Second-hand devices are only covered if bought direct from the manufacturer or a UK VAT registered business. If you’re buying refurbished, check our refurbished iPhone insurance guidance first.

How much does iPhone insurance cost in the UK?

The cost of iPhone insurance varies because it depends on your iPhone model, the cover level you choose (Essential, Plus or Premium), and the excess. Options like theft cover and loss cover (where included) can also affect the price. The quickest way to see your exact cost is to run a quote for your device and selected cover.

What affects the price most:

  • Your iPhone model and replacement cost
  • Cover level (Essential, Plus or Premium)
  • Whether theft or loss cover is included on your Schedule of Insurance
  • The excess amount
  • Eligibility and valid proof of purchase

If you’re trying to keep costs down, choose the cover level that matches your real risks and check the excess before you buy.

How to choose the best iPhone insurance for you

The “best” iPhone insurance is the one that matches how you actually use your phone, what you’re most worried about, and the excess you’re happy to pay. A quick way to decide is to focus on the risks that would hurt most if they happened tomorrow.

  • Pick the cover level based on your real risks (damage only vs theft vs loss).
  • Check the excess for your model before you buy.
  • Confirm your cover level and policy details in your Schedule of Insurance.

Terms, exclusions and excess apply.

Theft and loss cover for iPhone insurance

Theft cover is included on Plus and Premium. Loss cover is included with Premium. Your Schedule of Insurance confirms your cover level and policy details. Terms, exclusions and excess apply.

If your iPhone is stolen or lost, act fast:

  • Report theft to the police as soon as possible and get a crime reference number
  • Contact your mobile network provider to block the handset and SIM
  • Use Find My iPhone to try to locate the device (if enabled) and secure your Apple ID
  • Make a claim with the required documents as outlined in your policy terms

Airtime abuse cover (unauthorised calls after theft) is included on Plus and Premium, with different limits depending on the cover level.

Used and refurbished iPhone insurance

You can insure a used or refurbished iPhone as long as it meets the policy eligibility rules. Your iPhone must be within the age limit at the start of cover, in good working order, and you’ll need valid proof of purchase. Terms, exclusions and excess apply.

To be eligible, make sure:

  • The device was bought direct from the manufacturer or a UK VAT registered business
  • You have proof of purchase that clearly shows the device and purchase details
  • The iPhone is not already damaged and is fully functional when cover starts

If you’re unsure whether your proof of purchase will be accepted, it’s worth checking before you buy cover.

Excess for iPhone insurance claims

An excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. (Some people call this a “deductible”.) The excess can vary by iPhone model and by claim type, for example accidental damage versus theft or loss. Always confirm the excess shown during your quote and in your policy documents.

iPhone excesses range from £65 to £175 depending on the model and circumstance. You can check specific prices in our policy excess table.

It depends on what you want covered and how you prefer to pay. AppleCare+ and insurance policies can differ on what’s covered, any fees or excess, claim limits, exclusions, and how repairs or replacements are handled.

A simple way to compare is to list the situations you care about most (for example accidental damage, mechanical breakdown, theft and loss) and then check the terms for each option. For this policy, your Schedule of Insurance confirms your cover level and key policy details. Terms, exclusions and excess apply.

Please check through both the Policy Excess, and Key Exclusions and Limitations to check for what is not covered by our iPhone Insurance policies.
